One giant step farther from baby

Sarah taking some last moments with her passies.
All ready to give her passies to baby Katie.
Giving baby Katie all of her passies!!!!

Today Sarah gave baby Katie her passies!!! We had Sarah put her passies in a gift bag for Katie so she could bring them up to the hospital. Sarah seemed pretty excited about doing this...she showed everyone what was in her bag and how baby Katie should put them in her mouth when she cried or was tired. On the way to the hospital Sarah's face was in the gift bag and she was sneaking some final time with her passies. It was hilarious! We then left the hospital and went to watch the airplanes at the air show. After the air show we came home and tried to be brave for the battle ahead. I had purchased a new little puppy for her in hopes that would distract her from losing the passies. So we gave her the new puppy and told her how kind she was and what a big girl she was for giving the baby her passies and we put her to bed. She asked for her passies, but we put her in bed and closed the door, and paced around the living room. She then faked cried for a minute and then we heard her singing Twinkle Twinkle and playing with her puppy and finally nothing. SHE WENT TO SLEEP!!! I can not believe how easy it was given how much Sarah loves her passies at night. In fact yesterday (the day before giving up her passies) she took a nap and woke up crying and wouldn't stop. So I asked her if she wanted to go to bed and she said yes. I put her to bed and she played with her passies and babies for 45mins to an hour. That is when I began to doubt forgoing the passies. The night wasn't as easy as she cried for about 20 mins, but it wasn't terrible. It did bother Daddy quite a bit though but that is probably because she was crying for him. She woke up at 5:30 this morning and cried for 5 mins but went back to sleep. It seems we have forged ahead into childhood more. The only two major hurdles to getting over being a baby are a new bed and potty training, which we plan on doing both this summer. Where is time going? I won't have a baby anymore. At least I will get to hold Katie for a baby fix, and then after that Ashley's baby! I am so proud of Sarah and I am very excited for her.

Nature in the house

Yesterday Grandpa and Grandma Denton watched the girls so Josh and I could go see the baby at the hospital. While we were gone they found a caterpillar in the kitchen and the girls really enjoyed watched it wiggle around the house! They then wanted to put it in the fish tank so the fish could eat it but after some convincing they decided that the caterpillar should be let go so it could become a butterfly.

Welcome Katie Ann

On Thursday April 22 we welcome a new cousin. Kim and Mark had a baby girl, she weighed 8lbs 6ozs and is beautiful. Abigail and Sarah were very excited to see her. Abigail kept saying I knew it was a girl. Unfortunately the girls have only seen her through the nursery window because Abigail has been sick. She is so diasappointed that she hasn't been able to hold Katie. We will have to go at the beginning of the week and maybe we won't have to share her too much.

Putting on make-up

Sarah found some markers yesterday while playing outside and I think she thought it would be good make-up...or maybe she thought she would look good in a beard. The markers were even on her teeth and tongue.

Western Day

Abigail is learning about Oklahoma in school and so they dressed up in western clothes. We didn't go all out in our dress but I thought Abigail was pretty cute. She loves school so much and gets so excited when they have special days like this. I hope I can always continue to foster a love for learning and friendship in her. She was in such a good mood when I took these pictures as you can see. It reminded me of when she was always looking for a laugh when she was a baby. I also can't believe I was able to braid her hair!!!

Easter Weekend

We had a wonderful Easter weekend and the weather was perfect. On Saturday Abigail and Aunt Emily went out to lunch together and so that left Josh and I with Sarah. It was nice to have just one child together and Sarah really loved all the attention. What did we do before with just one child? We then dyed some Easter eggs which the girls enjoyed. Abigail liked putting beads on the eggs and Sarah enjoyed stirring the water. We later had Aunt Kim and Uncle Mark over and we grilled and had a little Easter egg hunt. We went to church Sunday morning and had the entire Laurent clan there...that was really nice but we took up the whole pew! We had a nice lunch and then Grandma and I took Abigail to a church Easter egg hunt. Abigail was very interested in swinging and while she was swinging she said, "Grandma will you find some eggs for me?" We then went to a park and played on the swings with friends and went on a nature walk. It was such an enjoyable weekend with happy children and beautiful weather. Thank you God! I will post the Easter dress pictures later when my dad emails them to me...we didn't get any good pictures on our camera.

The Fishing Bug has hit

Sarah wanting to help Abigail catch a fish...or she was the fish not sure.

Sarah wishing she was older and could cast on her own.

Josh brought Abigail a new fishing pole home, so they decided to practice casting in the backyard. Abigail was so excitied and could actually cast quite well. Also the fishing pole was purple (Abigail's new favorite color) so double the joy. After dinner they went to the resevoir and fished, unfortunately the pole broke before they got to the fishing spot. Abigail said the pole broke because it was a Zebco... what a stab to Daddy's heart. They didn't catch any fish but they did throw a lot of rocks in the water...maybe that is why they didn't catch any fish. When I was telling Abigail goodnight I said "goodnight fisher girl." She responded by saying "I am not a fisher girl, I fish sometimes but I am not a fisher girl." Wow! Another blow to Daddy's heart.

Breakfast with Daddy

The girls have been missing Josh so much since he has been busy with school, so they really enjoy having breakfast with him in the morning. If Josh is gone in the morning when Abigail gets up the tears fall from her eyes. They love their special time with Daddy.
